Hi,
My name is Kevin Lamping and I currently live in Austin, Texas. I grew up in the town of Boerne, which is located northwest of San Antonio. After graduating high school, I continued my education at The University of Texas at Dallas and in three years obtained a bachelor's degree in Arts and Technology. After graduating, I managed to turn a part-time hobby into a full-time job and am currently working as a Interactive Developer for nFusion Group. In the spring of 2007, I married Katie Lewis at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church (yes, that St. Peter's).
My current interests include the four-time NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs, computer games (currently Medieval II: Total War and Anno 1701) and the Nintendo Wii. I also try to fit in time for reading, playing piano and plastic models. I've proudly stood atop Texas, hiked through Yosemite National Park and have camped at several state parks.
If you've taken a look around here, you've probably noticed that things are a little sideways. I've always been interested in treating web design as a new art, thinking ways we can shift our perspective. One popular train of thought is that horizontal scrollbars are a big no-no (and for good reason). But I decided my website should scroll horizontally in order to get the full panoramic effect. This design is my way of shifting perspectives just a little bit.
The mountain scene above was drawn by hand with coloring pencils on a nice large drawing pad. From there, I captured the drawings with a camera (didn't have a scanner handy at the time), fixed them up a bit in Photoshop and plastered them on my website. It's a neat effect that adds a twist to the normal web layout. I hope you like it and if you have any comments or notice any bugs, please contact me.
I do have a full-time job as a Front End Web Developer, but websites have always been a passion of mine and I can't seem to keep myself from creating websites. I am available for any type of website need, whether it's just some technology advice or a full-blown CMS driven e-commerce site. If you're in the Austin area, or anywhere really, contact me and we'll see if I can help.
I'm am experienced in the following technologies:

I have worked on several websites, both alongside teammates and single-handed as a freelancer. Here is my list of my most favorites to my almost favorites. I am proud to have worked on all of the following:
Continuing my work with Drupal on a professional level, I worked in my team at nFusion to upgrade the McCoy's website from a previous version of Drupal. My role included implementing a new theme, upgrading existing Drupal modules and developing new functionality.
As my first major project at nFusion group and first implementation of Drupal professionally, Playback magazine will always feel like a stepping stone for me. Together with my project manager and designer, we were able to deliver to the client a website they were able to update themselves using the power of Drupal.
Patty Mohlke is a freelance photographer who wants to share her captured moments with others. I helped from the very beginning, offering consultation services over what payment system fits best and teaching her the ins and outs of her new website. Take a look at Patty's amazing photographs and have a look for yourself.
As an ultimate compliment to my work, the owners of KB Media Productions returned for another website. This time, they wanted a photo gallery with a smoother feel. Through a custom Javascript/PHP application, I was able to deliver a great website for the second time in a row.

Committed to improving Texas air quality, Texas Green Campaign hoped to create a web presence in a hurry. In less than a week, I was able to implement the design along with programming a "Tell a Friend" e-mail page to help spread the word about improving Texas air quality.
Kristen Barnett came to me with a plan in mind. She knew exactly the design she wanted, but needed help turning that design into a Web site. I translated the design as wished and implemented a custom photo and video gallery, which Kristen can easily update on her own without assistance.

A Gift and a Card introduced me to PHP years ago. Unfortunately since then the website has shut down. I'm glad for the experience and how it changed my thinking of how I can use the web.
